Surfing the Waves at Huntington Beach

Posted in Destinations  by artgib on February 27th, 2009

One of the greatest surf spots in the great United States is found in Huntington Beach, California. With its near-perfect year round climate and gorgeous beaches, it is perfect for all types of sun and surf enthusiasts. The beach here has the longest uninterrupted stretch of beachfront on the entire West Coast, so it is easy to see why surfers from all over the world flock here to test out the waters.

In fact, over eleven million people come visit this area each summer, where they not only enjoy pristine beaches and beautiful water, but fun summer events and perfect summer sunsets. Once you visit, you may never want to leave, in which case you’ll probably end up going to see a real estate agent about real estate in Huntington Beach so you can start enjoying the surf every day.

Surfers enjoy reliable lifeguard services from dawn to dusk, 365 days per year. That means you can test the waters in safety. In the summer, over 65 lifeguards patrol the beach daily, keeping an eye out for new surfers and children, making Huntington Beach one of the safest beaches in California. Because of the way Huntington Beach sits on the coastline, it actually faced the Pacific at a southwest angle, making its warm waters from Mexico perfect for some of the best surfing.

If you’re just visiting, why not try camping right on the beach in your RV? There is an RV park for campers who want to wake up right next to action and head out into the surf first thing in the morning. Rates are only $60 per day and it is located at Sunset Vista.

Also to be found for surf enthusiasts is the International Surfing Museum. Huntington Beach was trademarked Surf City Huntington Beach in 2004 and is considered an authentic brand with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, which means it produces surf products with the authentic Surf City Huntington Beach name to them. Tourists to Huntington Beach can enjoy an art center, shopping and restaurants and clubs to amuse them when the surfing stops at night.

Huntington Beach is a perfect place for those who want the California lifestyle, complete with a laid back attitude and awesome surfing. Real estate in Huntington Beach never hangs around for long, so contact your real estate professional for listings near this pristine surf haven and begin your new life today.

I Left My Heart in Santa Monica, California

Posted in Destinations  by asullivan on February 27th, 2009

Santa Monica California is a magical place to visit. With its close proximity to chaotic downtown Los Angeles (only 13 miles) the city offers a funky, beachside escape to the city of angels. Having grown exponentially over the past decade and reigning as the premier tourist destination in all of Los Angeles County, it is remarkable that this small beach community has managed to hold on to its small town appeal.

The city is organized much like a small town, complete with a Main street that features small boutiques and unique shops. Santa Monica California is also famous for the pedestrian only 3rd street promenade, the musical focused strip of Pico Boulevard and the upscale shopping on Montana Boulevard. If it is shopping that you are after, you cannot miss in this city. Catering at once to celebrity clientele, tourists and a local community, Santa Monica has a distinct charm that no one can resist.

A trip to Santa Monica, CA would not be complete without a visit to the Santa Monica Pier. The Santa Monica Pier is a local establishment that draws tourists and locals alike and features many attractions. Take a ride on the roller coaster or play old timer fair games; or if you are in the mood to relax, simply take a stroll down the pier. If you are traveling with children be sure to visit the arcade that features almost every game imaginable. And I think it is safe to say that children and adults alike will appreciate the vintage carousel that operates throughout the week, except for Tuesdays and Fridays. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes on the pier and vendor carts for snacking.

The New York Trapeze School operates on the Santa Monica Pier and there is nothing like seeing trapeze performed with the pacific coast of Santa Monica, CA as a backdrop. The school operates throughout the year and they even allow individuals to sign up for an introductory course, if you are feeling brave.

The Santa Monica Pier also boasts one of the best views of the downtown skyline and the Santa Monica Beach that stretches underneath the pier. One of the most popular beaches in all of Los Angeles County, the Santa Monica Beach also attracts some of the best surfers in California. The local surf community can be spotted on this beach, day in and day out, no matter what the weather is like (although it is almost always sunny in Santa Monica, CA).

The Santa Monica Pier is bursting with energy throughout the day and features spectacular views of the beach below, but at night the lights of Santa Monica, CA dance in the distance and the Pier becomes a magical place. Day or night, it is safe to say that the Santa Monica Pier will take you back in time.

What is the Most Exciting Way to Meet Other Singles?

Posted in Travel  by kjodrey on February 27th, 2009

Are you looking for love?
Are you single and tired of the lonely prospect of solo travel?
Do you like the idea of meeting other singles with similar interests?
Does the thought of international travel appeal to you?

Whether you’re looking for love, or just like the idea of meeting other singles and sharing some great times, singles vacations and single cruises could be the answer. The good news is that there are many options for you, regardless of your interests and budget.

Single and broke? No worries, solo travel is still a possibility. If you’re willing to take a modest vacation you’ll find many singles vacations that don’t cost a fortune. For example, there are many singles vacations that focus on backpacking and camping. Rather than staying in a 4 star hotel you’ll pitch a tent and sleep in the great outdoors. Gourmet meals will be replaced with delicious comfort foods cooked over an open fire. And excursions offered on singles cruises, such as jet skiing and snorkeling, will be substituted with adventurous activities that may include kayaking, hiking, and canoeing.

No, these options are not extravagant, but they can be incredibly enjoyable. There’s nothing quite like escaping life as we know it, and getting back to basics. Sitting by a campfire at night, gazing at the magnificent star studded sky can be exhilarating. And if you happen to connect with another single while vacationing, this is a perfect recipe for romance!

If the great outdoors is not your thing, and you just can’t wrap your head around the idea of sleeping in a tent, there are singles vacations available that are less expensive than single cruises and resort vacations. If you know where to look, you can find singles vacations that offer accommodations in cabins. And if you’re willing to share in some of the chores such as cooking and cleaning, you can reduce your costs and still have a great time.

Of course, there are a wide variety of choices for singles cruises, singles resorts, and solo travel tours. Would you believe that single cruises can be found for less than two hundred dollars? If you consider the fact that cruise prices include food and accommodations, do you think this could be an affordable vacation for you?

If you’re not fortunate enough to live within driving distance of the departure port, you’ll have to add the cost of airfare. You’re almost always better off to book your airfare yourself, rather than to bundle it with the cost of the cruise. This will give you greater flexibility and usually a better price.

One very popular destination for single cruises from the U.S. is the Bahamas. This tropical Caribbean vacation spot has much to offer. Just picture yourself strolling along gorgeous white sand beaches, listening to the gentle crashing of the waves and looking out onto the beautiful turquoise water. With warm, sunny weather and countless activities available for daytime and nighttime fun, what’s not to love?

Whether you prefer to take advantage of the many water sports available, enjoy duty free shopping in the huge international bazaar, take your chances in the casinos, or relax on an exotic beach while sipping frozen cocktails, your days will never be boring. Once the sun goes down, the nightlife in the Bahamas is hot hot hot! The many dining options, live entertainment, clubs, and casinos will make you wish you never had to sleep. But then, you can always sleep tomorrow on the beach, right?

Your Bahamas cruise is most likely to arrive in Nassau or Freeport. Due to the close proximity of this area to Florida, most cruise lines depart from Miami, Port Canaveral, or Fort Lauderdale, Fla. You can book a cruise for as little as two to four nights, which is a very popular option if you’re interested in singles cruises. Just think, you can actually enjoy an incredible vacation that is affordable, meet other singles, and take little or no time away from work!

Do you get seasick? Don’t like the idea of being confined on a ship? Maybe single cruises aren’t the best idea for you. Don’t despair, there are many singles vacations available that offer hotel and resort vacations. Some are all inclusive. Your options are practically endless, from exotic beach resorts in tropical locations, to bus tours in faraway countries, to backpacking and staying in hostels overseas.

As you can see, there is no reason that solo travel should be counted out of your vacation plans, just because you’re single. Just figure out your budget, carefully decide where you would like to visit, and get on the Internet to book your trip. Whether you’re looking for love, or just want to experience the world with other singles your age, singles vacations and single cruises can be an affordable, exciting way to break free from loneliness and have a great time.
