Enjoy the Relaxed Atmosphere of Santa Monica

Posted in Destinations  by rentalo on May 30th, 2009

If you’re looking for fun at the quintessential California beach town, then look no further than Santa Monica. Sixteen miles west of downtown Los Angeles, sitting atop sandstone cliffs that overlook 3.5 miles of sandy Pacific shore, Santa Monica will provide you with day after day of sunny good times. And when you seek a place to stay while here, look on the Internet. Lodging directories list a number of Santa Monica hotels and other Santa Monica vacation rentals, with a variety of sizes and locations. Among them you’re sure to find the Santa Monica lodging to fit your needs.

Santa Monica truly has it all: terrific location, fabulous weather, loads of activities and a relaxed, fun atmosphere. And Santa Monica vacation rentals make this all easily available to you. This ‘beachopolis’–part city, part beach town–enjoys the benefits of its southern California clime. Very little rainfall and year-round warm temperatures that rarely rise above 90 degrees Fahrenheit mean you can savor your time here no matter when you travel.

Your only problem will be fitting in all you might want to do. Perhaps you’ll choose one of the Santa Monica hotels because of its easy access to the beach. Some are situated right at the edge of the bluffs, providing an expansive ocean view and glorious sunsets. You might want to try your hand at surfing, snorkeling or sailing. Maybe you prefer spending your time on the sand, enjoying the sights and sounds of the rolling waves, letting the sun warm your face, and occasionally rousing yourself for a game of volleyball.

You won’t want to miss Pacific Park. Located on the Santa Monica Pier, this amusement park is like no other. Enjoy a ride on the restored 1922 carousel, or enjoy the incredible view from the top of the roller coaster. Take a ride on the only Ferris wheel in the state that’s actually situated over the waters of the Pacific! It’s also the only Ferris wheel in the world that’s solar powered. In between rides, you can stroll through the park, enjoying the carnival atmosphere, other rides and games. After such a full day, you’ll be grateful that your comfortable Santa Monica lodging is nearby.

Perhaps you’ll choose one of the Santa Monica vacation rentals because of its location in town. If you enjoy shopping for quirky, unusual, or one-of-a-kind items, you’ll have to check out the shops on the Third Street Promenade. Here you’ll be sure to find a memento of your trip that’s much more original than a t-shirt!

Many hotels are situated along bicycle and jogging paths that parallel the oceanfront. Residents and visitors alike take advantage of the glorious views and fresh ocean breezes as they walk, jog, skate or bike here. You might take a walking tour through town to learn about the more than 20 historical buildings here.

Many families opt to choose their Santa Monica vacation rentals online because of the wide selection of homes and condos. They appreciate the privacy and quiet, as well as the convenience of having a kitchen to use whenever a snack attack hits. You might also want to try your hand at cooking some of the incredible fresh seafood available in local markets. However, when you do decide to eat out, you’ll be faced with another dilemma–choosing which restaurant appeals most! Between here and L.A., you will have hundreds of restaurants from which to choose.

The Top 5 Overlooked Theme Parks in Orlando

Posted in Travel  by murrayhill on May 30th, 2009

When many people think of Orlando, they automatically think of Disney World and other Disney resorts. There are many other places to visit in Orlando that are fun for the whole family. With the right hotel and Orlando transportation choices, you can easily take in all that Orlando has to offer. Check out these parks to make your Orlando vacation complete.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay is a wonderful wild animal, fun-filled time. Kids love to see all the animals they see in books. They also learn about many other different animals they have more than likely not come in contact with before.

For the adults, there are some great coasters that will get your heart pumping and offer a ton of excitement and thrill. Like Disney, they also have shows. These shows are usually located in a diner setting or along the walk ways.

Seaworld Orlando

Seaworld is an Orlando theme park that delves into the ocean and lets you see what aquatic life is like. Not only will you get to see killer whales and dolphins perform tricks at shows, you will also be able to see all the other animals from the aquatic world, like penguins.

Seaworld also has some great rides to enjoy. They have an exciting roller coaster called Kraken that takes you on an amazing ride. If you like coasters, you can also go on the Manta which is also a great pick.

Kids will especially enjoy Shamu’s Happy Harbor. This area is filled with many great rides for the kids as well as sites to see. No trip is complete without visiting Shamu! If you want further adventure, check out Aquatica or Discovery Cove, right next to Seaworld.

Wet n’ Wild

If you are looking for a great time at a water park, check out Wet and Wild. This is an exciting water park that has been an Orlando feature for many years. They have fast paced water slides as well as a calming lazy river. It is a nice change up from the traditional park where you walk around all day. This gives you an opportunity to float on by and enjoy Florida’s sunny weather.

Cypress Gardens

Cypress Gardens was Florida’s first official theme park. This park is lined with beautiful botanic gardens that are absolutely breathtaking. You can see them by foot or by boat. There are many live shows with singing and dancing throughout the day. They boast over 8,000 different flowers and plants and have a butterfly sanctuary as well as an aviary. It’s a great way to spend a low key day in Orlando.

Disney Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach

Disney has two water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, which are often overlooked because of Disney’s other popular parks. They each offer a unique experience. Blizzard Beach has one of the World’s tallest and fastest free falling slides. The concept behind Blizzard Beach is a ski resort setting- in Florida!

Typhoon Lagoon lets you snorkel with real sharks and also offers a surf pool. The surf pool is what most people remember the most when they leave. You can spend hours and hours in the surf pool and not even know it.

As you can see, Orlando is full of some great overlooked theme parks. These hidden jewels are less crowded than some of the more popular parks and are cheaper too.

The Top Restaurants in Orlando Florida

Posted in Destinations  by angelheld on May 30th, 2009

Any big city in the USA will be liberally dotted with good restaurants. The importance of going somewhere to eat and getting the optimum level of service is a major factor whoever you are and whoever you are with. If you are looking to impress a business partner, you want to take them somewhere with a bit of class. If you are on a date and want to make an impression that means it won’t be the last one, you want to take them somewhere that makes them feel valued. If you simply want to eat good food, then you owe it to yourself to find somewhere with quality.

Cities mean business. That is their very purpose. Way back in the mists of time there were no cities as we know them today, just large conurbations that had a pharmacy, an inn, and so forth. Cities became all the rage because shops sprang up, specialising in the field in which they operated, and because businesses needed to be close to one another in order to maximise the amount of time they spent “doing business” and minimise the amount of travel involved. People needed to live close to where they worked, and for convenience’s sake, cities sprang up in order to keep everything close to everything else. And because the people in these cities needed to eat, restaurants happened.

Orlando is a city with an interesting situation. Although there are several cities in the USA with bigger reputations, Orlando has got a lot of people coming in every year for more than one reason. And there are many who would churlishly suggest that one reason is all there is - one reason with two round ears on the top of its head. This would be so far wide of the mark as to be in a different time zone altogether, because Orlando is a center of high achievement. As well as the ubiquitous (and excellent, incidentally) Disneyland, there are several other reasons why people come to Orlando.

Attracting business is a major part of keeping a city going. Sure, with a passable amount of effort any city will be able to function on a basic level - but there is more to being successful than that. To really reach out and achieve more, a city needs to aim for excellence in all sectors. When visitors come in from outside the state - specifically business visitors - they need to be so impressed that they could not bear to leave without making a follow-up appointment.

Part of this strategy is to take a business visitor to a restaurant where they will be served a meal that is cooked to perfection, accompanied with great wine and music, and served by diligent, polite and warm staff in an environment conducive to having a good time. Ticking all of these boxes is not a simple task, and to achieve it takes a genuinely high-quality restaurant. The effort to take a customer (or potential customer) to such a restaurant will be that they cannot wait to come back.

Some of the World’s Best Value Holidays

Posted in Destinations  by Musa on May 30th, 2009

As the summer approaches people look to take their holidays, but as we already know the credit crunch is hitting people’s pockets hard. There have already been a huge number of people losing their jobs, so finding an affordable and luxury holiday is essential. Let’s take a brief look at some of the best destinations around the world, where you can not only have a great time but also not break the bank.

Bulgaria
Bulgaria is a growing tourist destination and it is absolutely superb in its own right, the county itself has a variety of beaches and fabulous views and the weather is not too bad either.

Tunisia
Tunisia again is somewhere that has rapidly expanded over previous years. The country caters for people looking for bargain all inclusive packages in luxury hotels. It has been compared to Turkey a lot and in some ways can be very similar as you are guaranteed great weather and beaches.

Egypt
Egypt has literally exploded over the past few years; the country is now gleaming with tourists. The beaches are utterly amazing and there is a lot of history to view in the country such as the mysterious pyramids.

Turkey
Turkey has become one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world and you can literally see why. The country is not too expensive to visit but you get a lot for your money, 5 star accommodation, great food, great weather and excellent sites and beaches make Turkey one of the best destinations to visit.

Cyprus
Cyprus is a lot like the weather in Turkey; the main benefit is that you will be visiting a smaller island, so you will get benefits such as cleaner beaches and air. Cyprus is split into two sections with the South being more commercialised, but if you are looking for a more relaxing holiday then maybe north Cyprus would be a better choice.

There are also various other locations you can look at visiting if your not looking for sunny weather such as Iceland, where you can enjoy a massive amount of great sites. Or alternatively you could stay and holiday in the UK. Although you are not guaranteed the beautiful weather the UK is a great place to visit sites, landscapes and things such as theme parks and museums. Wherever you decide to go make sure that you do not spend more than you can afford as you could end up regretting in when the bills start to come through.

Things To Consider Before A Namibia Safari

Posted in Travel  by AnnaStenning on May 29th, 2009

As the only nation on the planet to actually address wildlife conservation in its constitution, it is little wonder that those lucky enough to go on a Namibia safari tell of a most memorable experience. There are of course a great many locations in southern - and indeed the whole of Africa, in which a fun safari can be had - and Namibia is arguably at the top end of this list.

There can be few experiences as impressive as seeing a huge African elephant stride off through the African countryside, as a low red sun hangs in the sky. Seeing a chubby hippopotamus in its natural environment is another of the unforgettable sights that people see when they take a Namibia safari. And let’s not forget the majestic giraffe as it stretches to nibble at tall trees that no other animal can comfortably reach, on a dusty African plain.

The most well known and well visited locations in the country include the Etosha National Park, the Namib Desert, the Naukluft National Park - and the famous Skeleton coast. Some Namibia safari holidays involve actually camping in one of these wild locations, invariably supported by trustworthy and highly experienced safari staff. Good transport with plenty of provisions is of course a very important prerequisite for a Namibia safari, and as you would expect all good tour companies provide these necessities.

For those concerned about any language barriers, it is important to remember that the country’s main languages are English, German and Afrikaans. These languages - especially English - suffice for most visitors. There is some risk of malaria in the northern most parts of the nation, but not in the desert regions, so if you are planning a Namibia safari you should take precautions.

There are likely to be some wonderful photographic opportunities for anyone considering a trip to this region on a Namibia safari. It is worth ensuring that you invest in or borrow some high quality cameras - with plenty of storage space or film stock.

An inspiring nation, Namibia offers a real treat for anyone looking to enjoy some of Africa’s many wildlife attractions. With some of the most exotic and indeed rare animals in the world, Namibia, along with Botswana and Zambia - and indeed a great deal of other African countries - offers a chance in a lifetime opportunity.

It is important to do a lot of research before taking such an intrepid trip - although there are many companies out there which can take the organisational worries out of any Namibia safari, by providing extensive expertise, local knowledge and all the practical requirements you might need.

Going it alone and organising a safari trip oneself is probably one of the more challenging ways to organise a Namibia safari, both for yourself and any family members or friends that come along with you. One thing is for sure though, if you choose Namibia, or any one of the other fantastic African safari destinations that are possible - you’re likely to have a very memorable trip indeed.
