Know How to Replace the Starter of your Own Car

Posted in Travel  by freeinternetmedia on December 28th, 2009

Replacing our car’s starter may not be an easy automotive task but we can’t deny the fact that it is important to know how to replace a starter on our own.

The materials or tools needed to replace a starter include a marker, a flood light, a car jack, crescent wrenches, and a ratchet set.

The first step on how to replace a starter is the preparation. We need an access from below of the car, which means that the car has to be pulled onto jack stands or the car itself may be jacked up. We must check the chalk blocks if they are in place and the brake if it is all set before jacking up the car. An important tip when working under a car or any other type of vehicle is to be extremely careful not to touch any other electrical wires or contacts that are not supposed to be touched or fixed.

The second step on how to replace a starter is to find the starter that will be replaced. We need to find it because there are different locations of starters and it depends on the model of the automotive. We may start finding it on the side of the driver. Those who have not seen a starter before, more often than not, it looks like a tube measuring approximately six inches in diameter and eight inches in length. It features air-type holes on one end which go all the way surrounding the cylinder. It also features a mounting connection as well as a couple of electrical connections. With older automotives, the starter may be found on the engine top or inside the compartment of the engine.

Third step is the removal of the connections. As mentioned earlier, there are three connections, namely, the mounting connection and the two electrical connections. These must be removed but must be marked to avoid confusion. When removing the mounting connection, the tools that must be used are the Crescent wrench and ratchet. It must be noted that there are times when the connections are difficult to remove. The difficulty actually depends on the age of the automotive. It must also be noted that not a lot of force must be used when removing the connections because we might further damage the car and we might not have anything to drive in the end.

The fourth step on how to replace a starter is the installation. The reason why we need to mark the connections in the third step is because the starter will be installed using the reverse process on how we removed the connections.

The fifth step on how to replace a starter is the attachment of the negative cable of the battery onto the battery. The connection must then be tightened afterwards. Now, we may check whether all connections are properly done by starting the engine.

We must remember that the new starter motor has a core charge, which means that the old starter may be brought to the store to get a refund.

Getting Your Visa To Study In Australia

Posted in Travel  by scottking on December 28th, 2009

Australia is one of the hottest destinations for students intending to study in an overseas country. The Australian government has realised the importance of educational institutes and has released funds to upgrade the infrastructure of its schools and colleges. The Australian government aims to provide high-class education to both domestic and foreign students. Foreign students intending to study in Australia must get a student visa, which grants them permission to stay in Australia to finish their studies.

People applying for an Australia student visa must prove they are academically and financially capable of studying in Australia. They must be in the position to pay the tuition fee, airfare and accommodation. People applying for an Australia student visa must also be able to prove that they can support their dependent family member when they study in Australia.

One of the basic requirements for getting an Australian student visa is proficiency in the English language. You need to pass the IELTS test to obtain your student visa if English is your second language. If you have visited Australian previously, then your previous visit will also be considered. You also need to get overseas health insurance cover before you submit your application. The applicants will also have to undergo a medical examination, which is in accordance with the guidelines of DIAC. You can get the assistance of an immigration and visa expert who will guide you in fulfilling all visa formalities.

You can apply for a student visa either through an Australian embassy located in your city or through a consulate in your country. Usually you will get a response from your visa application within 24 hours of submitting it. You can also access the details of your visa status through VEVOS, or the Visa Entitlement Verification Online System. When you submit your application you are required to pay a non-refundable fee towards application fees and the processing of your application.

If you are below the age of 18 you will require a local guardian if you want to study in Australia. The Australian government has relaxed the rules regarding the number of hours an immigrant student can work in Australia. However, these relaxed rules do not apply to students who have got their visas before 26th April 2008. Students who obtained their visa before 26th April 2008 are required to get a work permit if they want to work in Australia. Students who have got their visa after 26th April 2008 are required to get a tax file number before they start working in Australia.

Once you get your visa it is important that you follow all the rules and regulation laid down by the government when you study in Australia. Some important rules that you need to follow include:

a) You must make it a point to attend the course regularly. You must report your weekly attendance to the immigration department. Your visa will be cancelled if your attendance falls below 80 per cent unless you submit a medical report.

b) You must not work for more than 20 hours in a week.

c) You cannot change the education institution that you study in the first year of study.

d) You must not stay in Australia once your visa expires unless you apply for the renewal of your visa.

South African Work Visa Problems Solved

Posted in Travel  by scottking on December 28th, 2009

A lot of people are enchanted with the possibility of working in South Africa. However, many are discouraged because of the regulations and success criteria that are required when immigrating to the country. The process of obtaining a work permit can be quite daunting because of the complex processes involved. For work permits alone, there are five different categories to choose from.

It is known that the United Kingdom has moved to a system of immigration that is based on points. This is very similar to the system in Australia. This system has actually become a widely used norm and has made the process of getting work permits and visas, including understanding the rules of South Africa’s immigration, a whole lot more difficult to understand. Listed below are the categories of work permits and visas for people who want to go to South Africa.

The first of these is the Intra Company Transfers. If the applicant is required by their company to move from their current employment to another temporary position in South Africa, they should apply for this kind of permit.

The Quota Work Permit on the other hand is useful for people who have skills training. South Africa actually has a shortage on skills and they need certain professions that are recognised by its Department of Labour. This is periodically reviewed using categories like the current conditions of human resources. After evaluation, they are aptly revised, if needed. For individuals who pass the given qualifications and experience, they may apply for this kind of working permit. There is a huge advantage when it comes to a quota working permit. It can be issued prior to the offering of a job to the individual. This, in turn, makes the process of searching for a job much faster.

Exceptional Skills Permits are those assessed on a case to case basis. Primarily, this permit applies to individuals who have unique skills, including a wide array of experience and qualifications.

Individual Corporate Workers permit are given to members of many organisations who recruit foreigners. This can be due to skill shortage in South Africa or because of the different kinds of requirements that are asked to carry out a role (for instance, another language). The company is then able to apply for a corporate permit which allows them to get a specific number of individuals for designated roles in the country. Companies which have these can also apply for Individual Corporate Workers Permit for their foreign staff.

General Work Permits are for applicants who do not fit in any of the other four categories. These general work permits cannot be applied for until the applicant is actually offered and has received a job offer. The employer also has to present proof that they have searched for people from South Africa to fill up the position but failed.

Lastly, Corporate Permits are used by companies that pre-empt the immigration process.
