Before looking into rental companies, it is important to decide what type of amenities the plane should include. With a personal jet, there are plenty of options the renter has. Checking to ensure the company has proper validation through documents and insurance is important when choosing a company from which to rent. If the company does not have both FAA documentation and insurance, then it is best to steer clear of these choices.

Costumer reviews say a lot about a business. Check to see what others have to say about your prospective provider. It is also a good idea to browse on other sites online, which may speak of the company in question. Third party sites are a way to get unedited reviews of the company.

Italy’s development and history is as colourful and varied as its cuisine. Over time, Italy has made significant contributions to the cultural and social development of the entire Mediterranean area.

Italy is located in southern Europe and comprises the long, boot-shaped Italian Peninsula, the land between the peninsula and the Alps, and a number of islands including Sicily and Sardinia.

Florence, a Renaissance city in the heart of Tuscany, is home to some of the country’s best museums, cathedrals and churches, and therefore perfect for a luxury holiday.

Top of the to-do list is the Piazza della Signoria and Palazzo Vecchio. The Piazza della Signoria is Florence’s most famous square, having served as the city’s political and cultural centre since the Middle Ages. It also houses a free open-air sculpture exhibit. Florence’s town hall, the Palazzo Vecchio, sits on the piazza. The palazzo is surrounded by cafes and restaurants.

Another popular destination is the Cattedrale de Santa Maria del Fiore. The huge Gothic duomo was built in 1296, and holds 20,000 people. The exterior is composed entirely of green, pink, and white marble and features several elaborate doors and statues. Inside, Brunelleschi’s Dome is an architectural masterpiece. This destination is the centrepiece of any luxury tour.

The Ponte Vecchio was built in 1345, and was the city’s first bridge ever built across the Arno River. It is the only surviving bridge from Florence’s medieval period and features stunning views of the Arno River and beyond.

The Galleria degli Uffizi holds the world’s best collection of Renaissance art, and is therefore a must-see for any art lover. The Uffizi features works from Michelangelo, Giotto, Botticelli, da Vinci and Raphael.

Santa Croce is the largest Franciscan church in Italy and holds the tombs of several important Florentines including Michelangelo and Dante.

Naples is the third most populated city in Italy. It comes from the Greek Neapolis meaning ‘new city’. Naples is a lively and vibrant city, full of historical treasures and ancient, winding streets.

Be sure to stop in at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, a museum boasting one of the world’s best collections of Greek and Roman antiquities, including mosaics, sculptures and a collection of early Roman artefacts from Pompeii.

The Duomo is a 13th century Gothic cathedral dedicated to Naple’s patron saint, San Gennaro. An annual festival is held in his honour. On one side of the duomo is the 4th century Basilica Santa Restituta with columns believed to be from the Temple of Apollo.

Castel dell’Ovo, the oldest castle in Naples, sits in a prominent position on the harbor and is used for concerts. Teatro San Carlo is the world’s oldest surviving opera house, although it was rebuilt in 1816 after a fire.

Venice is a beautiful Italian destination and home to many great attractions. Venice is actually composed of 117 bodies of land connected by more than 400 bridges over its 150 canals. The Grand Canal is its main street, cutting through the centre of the city.

The main public transport in Venice is the vaporetti, boats that glide through the principal waterways. Doge’s Palace - Palazzo Ducale, on St. Mark’s Square, is the most impressive building in Venice and was the political and judicial hub of Venetian government until the fall of the Venetian Republic in 1797.

Canal Grande is the main thoroughfare of Venice. Its waterways are home to a variety of boats and its streets are lined with beautiful buildings. Rialto Bridge (Ponte di Rialto) - the main bridge crossing the Grand Canal - is over 400 years old.

See China in Style

Posted in Travel  by TravelAssociates on March 29th, 2010

China lays claim to one of the oldest histories in the world, thanks to the ancient relics and numerous temples that still exist. Evidence of ancient dynasties can be found in almost every province in the region.

Located on the central eastern coast at the mouth Yangtze River, Shanghai is the largest city in China in terms of population and one of the largest urban areas in the world. Originally a fishing and textiles town, Shanghai was opened up to trade as a result of the 1842 Treaty of Nanjing that ended the First Opium War.

The city today is an emerging tourist destination renowned for its historical landmarks, its ever-expanding skyline, and its reputation as a centre of culture. Shanghai has been described as the ’showpiece’ of the world’s fastest-growing economy.

The Jade Buddha Temple was built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1875-1909) and was tragically burnt down in the early 20th century. In 1918, Jade Buddha Temple was rebuilt on Anyuan Road.

The architecture of the temple is magnificent, in the style of the Song Dynasty. The temple is made up of separate compounds such as the Halls of Heavenly Kings, the Hall of the Sleeping Buddha and the Hall of the Jade Buddha.

The Temple houses the Shanghai Buddhist Institute, where ancient statues, paintings, a complete set of Buddhist scriptures and over 7000 rare scriptures are kept.

The Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower stands in Pudong Park in the new Lujiazui district. The Tower’s design features eleven spheres and three columns linking the green grass below to the blue sky above. Although the Tower has now been surpassed in terms of height and design, many still see it as a symbol of the new Shanghai.

If you had to book a luxury holiday to one place in China, Beijing would have to be the ultimate destination. Beijing’s Forbidden City is the largest and best-preserved Imperial Palace in the world. It has 9,999 rooms - just a single room short of the number that ancient Chinese believe represents Divine Perfection. For five centuries, this palace served as the residence of emperors and empresses of Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.

Tiananmen Square has been the site of many important historical events. The square is surrounded by several significant buildings like the Chinese Revolution History Museum, the Mao Mausoleum, the beautiful Tiananmen Tower, and the Qianmen (Front Gate). The daily flag ceremonies performed during sunrise and sunset are well-worth a look.

The Great Wall of China is one of the ‘Eight Wonders of the World’ and is listed in the World Heritage Directory. This immense wall was built to keep invaders out and to keep the inhabitants in. It spans 6,700 kms from Shanhaiguan Pass in the east to Jiayuguan Pass in the west.

The Temple of Heaven is the largest group of structures in the country dedicated to rituals paying homage to heaven. This temple was built specifically for worship of heaven during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The complex is a treasure trove of ancient Chinese monuments.

Xi’an is the capital city of Shaanxi province. With 3,100 years of recorded history Xi’an is one of the most important cities in Chinese history. It was the capital of China for 13 dynasties. It was renowned for housing the Terracotta Army made during the Qin Dynasty.

Xi’an was capital to the first dynasty of China, and many of its successors. The surrounding countryside serves as a perpetual reminder of its rich history. The most famous site is the Terracotta Army, built to protect the Emperor Qin Shi Huang, whose Mausoleum lies nearby. There are a range of luxury tours on offer to visit these sites.

The Famen Temple claims to house the Buddha’s fingers and still draws crowds of practicing monks to marvel at the Tang dynasty treasures which are kept here. The countryside around Xi’an is breathtaking and there are numerous mountains that are perfect for picnics and bushwalking.

For a city full of ancient traditions, Hong Kong is surprisingly also one of the world’s most progressive cities. A stroll along the impressive Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront by night is a must for any itinerary. Enjoy the skyline of Hong Kong Island, lit up and brilliant.

For excellent shopping, look no further than Mongkok. This shopping paradise contains stylish stores, bustling crowds and plenty of bargains to really whet your shopping appetite. Luxury hotels aplenty are located just nearby.
