Benefits of Staying at a Bed and Breakfast

Posted in Travel  by jackrlandry on August 31st, 2010

Bed and breakfast-type inns are a great idea for any traveler who needs lodging but wishes to stay away from large, expensive hotels. Sure, hotels are larger, very luxurious, and have a number of different amenities available.

However, you can usually find these same amenities, along with a quieter atmosphere and lower prices, at a bed and breakfast. These types of lodgings are usually homes that have been turned into a place for visitors to stay.

Many of them have interesting and historic pasts, and are quaint and beautiful. The majority of inns are lived in by the owner, which makes it easy if you need emergency assistance or help.

The best way to experience a bed and breakfast is to find one downtown where you wish to visit. These will be centrally located among all of the different activities you would like to experience and places to go.

They offer a cozier, homier approach to lodging overnight. If you wish to be far away from the sights and sounds of the city to further your relaxation, try researching lodging in surrounding smaller towns and areas.

These will probably offer lower prices, as well. One benefit to staying in a bed and breakfast is that you get the care and amenities that you would in a large hotel for a lower price.

Hotels located downtown or in populated areas are guaranteed to have a higher price. Even “budget” hotels often offer room rates that are equal to or greater than the type of rate you would pay at a smaller inn.

Hotels are built to hold a great capacity of guests, and can sometimes feel overcrowded. The multiple floors and endless hallways of today’s hotel can make you feel uncomfortable and like you’re far from home.

Bed and breakfasts have a much smaller number of rooms, and the places of lodging are greatly downscaled. This environment is much more personal and home-like.

You and your spouse or family can feel like you are in your home away from home, without having to deal with the noise and bustle of a massive and populated hotel. They also usually offer great options for food and drink.

Smaller establishments tend to only have an in-house cook, whereas larger B&B’s can have full size restaurants within. The type of food and size of the establishment will depend on the area that you are staying and the type of tourist environment found there.

These types of boarding houses are usually situated in picturesque areas where you can participate in a number of different activities. If you are close to downtown or shopping, take a morning stroll and browse through the different places of business.

Ask the owners or front desk concierge about the different types of walking and hiking trails that are available around your lodging. If you are able to make time, explore these trails and enjoy the scenery surrounding your B&B.

Research the historical sites and museums in the city you are lodging. Each town has a fascinating history.

Discover all of the quirky and unique things about the town, and explore them. If the area in which you are staying has an interesting past or special thing about it, learn more about it!

Though B&B’s are definitely quieter and less populated, there are guaranteed to have all of the same types of amenities that you would find in a more established hotel. Most of these places have Wi-Fi and internet access available to their patrons.

Many also offer laundering and concierge services, where the owners and workers of the inn can assist you in finding transportation, reservations, and ideas for entertainment. These types of places tend to have a reputation as being more suitable to older, less exciting crowds.

However, they are becoming more family, couple, and young adult friendly as the nature of bed and breakfasts progresses. Many of them are starting to “go green” and become more modern.

If you are contemplating another option than staying in a hotel, try researching eco-friendly or modernized bed and breakfasts beforehand. They are a great way to meet other young people and travelers like you.

The next time you plan on going on a trip, learn about the bed and breakfasts in the area you wish to travel to. They are a fantastic option for the traveler craving comfort and familiarity.

Choosing the Right Hotel

Posted in Destinations  by tomselwick09 on August 31st, 2010

Your upcoming vacation may be something you look forward to for weeks. A few days or weeks without the obligation of going to work or fulfilling many of the other necessary daily tasks may be something you can hardly wait for.

The upcoming break may even occupy your thoughts many months before the dates actually arrive. While you are thinking about your upcoming vacation, make sure that you put special thought and consideration into where you will be staying.

While camping is an option, it is often not the most ideal choice when you are seeking to relax and relieve yourself of many of the typical worries. However, this is something that you will have to consider carefully.

Some find that they can relax more easily while surrounded by nature even though they still have to cook, clean, and take care of other typical responsibilities. If you decide that camping is not for you, you will want to carefully consider which hotel you will stay.

Those who have traveled before know well that not all hotels are the same. Each hotel is actually very different in many ways from any other hotel.

Each hotel will have its own price, location, amenities and services. It is very important to find out about all of these things before you arrive at the hotel.

After a day of traveling it is likely that you will be very tired and you will not want to spend the time looking for the best place to stay. You will thank yourself later if you spend time looking for the best place to stay before you leave on vacation.

It is also a very good idea to make a reservation before you leave to make sure that you will not have to do any last minute searching for a place to stay when you arrive at your destination. There are many things you can review to make sure that you are making the best choice in a hotel.

The first thing you should look at are the reviews for a hotel. If other travelers have stayed there and took the time to post very positive responses online, they must have been very pleased with their experience.

However, if they took the time from their travels to post negative experiences, you can rest assured that you will not have a positive experience there either. While these reviews are often genuine and reliable, keep in mind that on occasion a hotel can mess with the reviews in an effort to attract more people.

This is greatly discouraged, but it may not keep dishonest inn keepers from doing this. However, this is very rare and most travel sites will contain pure, honest content.

The next thing that you will want to take a look at is the price of the hotels with the best reviews. Even if the luxury suites are part of your dream vacation, you will want to keep this vacation within your budget.

When you can afford your dream vacation, you can sign up for the luxury suite. Taking a look at the prices of the various hotels with good reviews is likely to narrow down your list significantly.

Keep in mind that the prices of a hotel may differ dramatically depending on which days you plan to stay there. As weekends are generally more popular for travel, it is usually cheaper to stay at most hotels on the weekdays.

Be sure to explore the website some as there are often discounts that can be easily obtained. Booking sites and travel clubs can also offer additional discounts in many cases.

Remember that hotels just outside of a very popular, metropolitan area may be as nice as the ones within the metropolitan area, but much cheaper. If you have a reliable means of transportation it may be worth it to stay outside of the city.

However, if you are going on a business trip, it may be worth it to pay a little extra to be close to where you will be working. This will cut transportation costs significantly.

The less time you spend traveling, the more time you may have to do fun things while you are on your business trip. You will have to weigh the pros and cons of staying in different locations.

Another aspect of various hotels that you will want to look into is the amenities they offer. While a hotel may have a great price, it may not have all of the amenities you need such as a fitness room or laundry services.

Personalizing and Planning Your Vacation

Posted in Destinations  by tommygreene09 on August 31st, 2010

When you are taking time off of work to spend money on a vacation, make sure that you know you will enjoy the vacation. This article gives some ideas to ensure that the next vacation you take is worth your time and your money.

When you are going on vacation you have to make sure that you are taking the time to plan as much as you can ahead of time. The more that you can plan before you leave the smoother your vacation will go.

First, you have to make sure that you are taking the time to get to know the people you are going on vacation with. The more open the lines of communication are between you and those you are going with the better your vacation will be.

You have to know the location of your vacation before you start to make any of your plans. The more that you know about where you are going the easier you will be able to determine how long you want to stay and many other details.

There are a lot of people that vacation to the same spot year after year. When you know that you are going to be going to the same spot on your vacation each year, you can make your reservations far ahead of time.

The reservations that you make should be with companies that you not only trust but that you have worked with or used before. The more that you know about what you are getting yourself into the more prepared you can be.

After you know where you are going to go you should get a head count of those that want to go with you. When you have an accurate number of all of the people that will be vacationing with you, you can then start to decide where and how long you will stay.

Where you will stay depends completely on the opinions and the desires of those you are vacationing with. There are many different ways to lodge when you are on vacation and most vacation spots offer more than one option.

The most common option is a hotel or a motel. When you stay at a hotel or a motel you will not have to clean your own room, but you may not even have a kitchen to cook in or an adequate amount of beds for everyone you are vacationing with.

When you have a lot of people staying with you a hotel can become quite expensive. Exploring all of your options may be time consuming but it could possibly save you a lot of money in the grand scheme of things.

After you have checked on the hotels and the motels in the area you should also check on vacation rentals. There are many different types of vacation rentals and you can find them all over the world.

Time shares seem to be a very popular type of vacation rental. If you know that you will be returning to a specific vacation spot time and time again a time share in the area may end up being a very cost effective way to vacation.

You will have a specific amount of time during which the time share is yours but you will be sharing the time share with others. The other people you are sharing this time share with may or may not be people that you know.

When they are not people that you know, you will have a governing body that will ensure the building is being taken care of properly. Ground rules will be set by this governing body and when they are broken someone can be there to take care of the problem.

Staying in a time share can be stressful because you have to take charge of your own cleaning and many people also have to take c are of their own cooking. Many people do not feel like they should have to cook or clean while they are on vacation.

If you do not feel that you should be cooking or cleaning a time share unit is not for you. When you leave the unit you have to make sure that you leave it in the same condition that you found it in upon arrival.

When a time share does not seem like the right option for you, you can always rent a condo. Renting a condo will also present you with the problem of cooking and cleaning but you will not have any obligation to pay for anything after you leave the condo.

No matter how you choose to vacation you have to make sure that you are happy with what you do. Take the time to plan your vacation and your budget so that your money in a vacation is well spent.
